Country living begins in the 29 North region of Charlottesville. This district is located in Albemarle County and benefits from the lower cost of living associated with the county. This being said, all of the amenities of Downtown Charlottesville are located just 15 minutes away. The region is named for its location along Route 29, which is a major roadway for Charlottesville. There are trails at Chris Green Lake Park, though this is also a great destination for lake activities, such as fishing.

There is a strong commercial center to 29 North. Grocery stores; chain stores, such as Target; and even shopping centers are located here. With over 30 retailers and restaurants in one location, Hollymead Town Center is the place to be. Here, big-name stores, such as Kohl's and PetSmart, meet local shops to create an interesting and diverse shopping experience.
With the strong economy in this area of Charlottesville, there are a great deal of employers to choose from right in the 29 North district. Besides retail positions, there is an airport right in town that serves the region. Other major employers within 29 North include General Electric, the Defense Intelligence Agency and the National Ground Intelligence Center. The opportunities for work and fun in 29 North are vast.
