While this part of the county is vast and full of nature, the total population is less than 1,000 people. Residents of Ivy enjoy an environment of mature neighborhoods, and spacious homes with many lying on multi acre lots. The Ivy "area" of Albemarle County, consists of the Meriwether Lewis and Murray Elementary School Districts which feed into Jack Jouett Middle School and Western Albemarle High School. Close Proximity
One of the best things about taking residence in Ivy is the close proximity to the interstate (I64), major highways, and surrounding towns. The heart of Charlottesville, the area's largest city, is only 10-15 minutes from Ivy neighborhoods. This means that all of the shops, restaurants and entertainment options of Downtown Mall are within easy reach on the eastern side of Ivy while all of the parks and charm of Crozet are within 10 minutes on the western side of Ivy. Additionally, with the University of Virginia campus a mere 10 minutes away, Ivy is home to many professionals who work for the University and UVA Hospital. 

The Importance of Community
With the small size of Ivy, residents have the opportunity become more than just neighbors. There are a number of popular meet-up places in and just outside of town, with one of the most common being the Boar's Head Sports Club. Boar's Head includes tennis courts (indoor and outdoor), Birdwood golf course, a swimming pool and plenty of activities for kids. After a day of play, Duner's - a casual fine dining establishment - is a popular restaurant where you can enjoy a scrumptious, seasonally diverse menu. Residents enjoy a number of locally owned businesses, such as the Ivy Store, Toddsbury convenience store, and a quaint shopping center with locally owned retail shoppes. 

Historic Landmarks
Adding significant charm to the town of Ivy, there are a number of taverns and homes from the mid to late 1700s and early 1800s. Some of the notable sites that are included on the National Register of Historic Places include D.S. Tavern and Woodstock Hall Tavern. Historic homes, such as Spring Hill and Home Tract, are other nationally registered sites in Ivy.

Farmington Country Club
Located in the eastern part of Ivy and minutes from the City of Charlottesville is a full service private club called Farmington.  Farmington Country Club is a family oriented club that is rich in history and has been a staple of the area since 1920.  Farmington sits on just under 1000 acres and is enveloped by 28 holes of golf including a renowned course of 18 holes along with a unique 10 hole "east" course. Residents also enjoy a popular grille, clubhouse, tennis facilities and a pristine aquatic center.

Fresh air and great opportunities combine to give the residents of Ivy a fantastic quality of life. Even with the strong development in the area between 1920 and 1980, there are still plenty of winding roads and scenic routes to explore while in Ivy. Sprawling estates and operating farms only add to the overall beauty of the area. Ivy, while convenient to larger metropolitan areas, is far enough removed to give residents a sense of peace and serenity.
