The beauty of Locust Grove is enhanced by close proximity to a number of local parks, including McIntire and Pen Parks. Tennis courts, playgrounds, volleyball courts, picnic areas, open play space and even baseball fields are available throughout these parks. In addition, Pen Park boasts an 18-hole golf course called Meadowcreek Golf Course. Northeast Park is right near the center of Locust Grove and is a favorite meeting area of residents, thanks to its charming foot bridge and great picnic areas. Other natural amenities within this neighborhood include an extensive network of walking trails along Rivanna River and Meadow Creek.Locust Grove has a long history in the Charlottesville area, with its beginnings as Locust Grove Subdivision in the late 1800s.
